The writting of the story and characters are very much by the book, its a very safe and doesnt really do anything exceptional or new.

It tries to balance the sports and romance but ultimately doesn't get either particularly right. The sports segments are rather underdeveloped in my opinion and the romance usually falls flat. I don't really see any progression in characters so it's kind of weird how none of them are getting any big takeaways or character development. Tbh the animation is what's saving this anime otherwise it's just really generic/predictable af and doesn't not really offer anything new to the table.
